If you want to know what everyone will be wearing this fall, the runway is one place to look. The resale rack might be better.

At Savie, we get to see what secondhand shoppers are actually buying. And lately, the data has been giving us some clues. Some trends are already moving: flares are selling, oversized rugby shirts are picking up and affordable vintage watches are finding buyers. Others? We're calling early.

So before you walk past that questionable pair of shoes at the thrift store, here are the fall 2026 fashion trends we think are about to have a very good season, based on what we're seeing sell through Savie.

1. Oversized Vintage Rugby Shirts

Our prediction: the preppy revival is getting scruffier. Forget the perfectly pressed polo. This fall, we're looking for oversized vintage rugby shirts, particularly the slightly beaten-up ones that look like they may have spent 20 years at the back of someone's dad's closet.

And buyers seem to agree. Savie sellers sold 25% more oversized rugby shirts this month compared with last month.

The ones we'd be watching for have:

• Oversized or boxy fits
• A few buttons at the collar
• Traditional horizontal stripes
• Heavy cotton
• Burgundy, forest green, navy, brown, mustard and other autumnal colors
• That very important "I found this, I did not buy it from a trend forecast" energy

For resellers, this is also the kind of trend we love. Rugby shirts are relatively easy to spot on a crowded thrift rack, and vintage versions can have much more personality than their new equivalents.

Thrift tip: Don't only search the women's section. The oversized fit is the point, so the men's racks may be where the good stuff is hiding.

2. Flares Are Very Much Back

Skinny jeans have survived approximately 400 declarations of death. But if our selling data is anything to go by, flares are having a moment. Savie has helped sellers sell twice as many flares this month as last month. That's a pretty significant jump.

And we're not just talking about one specific pair of jeans. For fall, we're watching:

• Vintage denim flares
• Dark-wash flared jeans
• Corduroy flares
• High-waisted 70s silhouettes
• Slightly dramatic wide-leg flares
• Black trousers with a proper kick at the bottom

3. "Ugly" Shoes Are About to Get Even Bigger

We say "ugly" with nothing but affection. Fashion's quirky-shoe obsession has been bubbling away for a while, championed by some of the internet's best trend spotters, including Mandy Lee (@oldloserinbrooklyn). For fall 2026, we think it's about to move further into the mainstream.

Think shoes that make you pause for a second. Odd loafers. Strange little vintage heels. Clunky soles. Unusual shapes. Shoes your friend might initially hate before asking you where you bought them two weeks later.

After seasons dominated by very recognizable "must-have" shoes, individuality feels interesting again. For secondhand sellers, that makes the thrift store particularly exciting. Our prediction is that buyers will increasingly search for shoes that don't look exactly like everything else in their feed.

What we'd look for: unusual silhouettes, vintage loafers, clogs, square toes, unexpected colors, interesting hardware and anything with just enough weirdness to make an outfit better. If you find a pair and your first reaction is "these are kind of awful... but I love them," we'd suggest looking them up before putting them back.

4. Affordable Vintage Watches

The vintage-watch trend isn't only about four-figure collector pieces. In fact, one of the more interesting things we're seeing at Savie is happening much further down the price scale. We're seeing increased sales of vintage watches around the $30 price point.

Our fall prediction is that small, dainty and affordable vintage watches will increasingly be treated like jewelry rather than serious watch collecting. Think:

• Small watch faces
• Slim straps
• Gold and silver tones
• Delicate bracelet watches
• Rectangular faces
• Understated vintage designs

They give an outfit that slightly collected-over-time feeling without requiring a luxury-watch budget. And because plenty of older watches are sitting unnoticed in thrift stores, estate sales and jewelry counters, it's a category resellers should be keeping an eye on.

Reseller tip: Condition matters. Check whether the watch works, look closely at the clasp and strap, photograph any wear clearly and include measurements in your listing. A $30 vintage watch doesn't need to be a Rolex to be a very good find.

5. Satin Shirts With Very Big Cuffs

This one is less about our sales data and more about where we think the mood is heading. After years of minimal basics, we want clothes with a little more drama. Enter: the satin shirt. But not the corporate kind.

We're talking fluid vintage shirts with exaggerated cuffs, oversized sleeves, interesting collars and enough movement to make wearing jeans feel considerably more exciting. For fall, we'd look for deep jewel tones, cream, chocolate brown, burgundy and black.

The best versions feel slightly 70s, slightly glamorous and very easy to wear. They're also exactly the sort of piece that can look unremarkable squeezed onto a thrift-store rail and completely different once styled. Which is often where the best resale finds are hiding.

What Fall 2026 Tells Us About Resale

There's a theme running through all five of our predictions. People want personality.

An oversized vintage rugby shirt doesn't need to be pristine. A $30 watch doesn't need to be luxury. The best shoe might be the weirdest one on the rack. And that's good news for secondhand sellers. Because when fashion moves away from everyone wanting the exact same new item and toward pieces that feel discovered, vintage and secondhand become much more interesting.

Our early selling data is already pointing in that direction:

• Oversized rugby shirt sales are up 25% month over month.
• Savie sellers have sold twice as many flares this month as last month.
• Increased sales activity around affordable vintage watches at approximately $30.

And ugly shoes? That one we're putting our reputation on.

What Should Resellers Look for This Fall?

If you're heading to the thrift store, estate sale or bins this fall, our watchlist is simple: rugby shirts, flares, dainty vintage watches, dramatic satin shirts and weird shoes.

But trends aren't a reason to buy everything you see. Check the brand. Check condition. Look at comparable sold listings. Think about the price you can realistically achieve before adding another item to the death pile.

The goal isn't finding more stuff. It's finding stuff people actually want to buy.
